Rampart hires a new football coach
Rampart High School has announced that Troy Ward, will be taking over the Rampart football program.
Coach Ward was selected after an extensive search, screening and interviewing process involving many qualified candidates. Coach Ward is very familiar with Rampart football after serving on Coach Rob Royer’s staff for the last 5 years.
Ward brings a wealth of football experience to this position. Prior to serving as a varsity assistant coach and defensive coordinator at Rampart High School, Ward served in similar capacities at Mitchell High School from 2000-2013.
He has also been involved in all aspects of the Rampart program during his tenure including practice and game planning, interviewing and hiring new coaches, eligibility checks, fundraising and volunteering to coach in our feeder middle school program.
Following the 2016 season Coach Ward was nominated for the CHSAA assistant coach of the year award and was the winner of the same award from the Pikes Peak League in 2018. During his 5 years as an assistant coach at Rampart, the program has made four playoff appearances and won two league championships.
Coach Ward graduated from Colorado State University-Pueblo and currently serves with the Colorado Springs Police Department as an Investigations Sergeant having been with the department since 1999.
An excerpt from Coach Ward’s letter of interest: “I am passionate about coaching the sport of football. Second, to my family, it is the thing I love doing the most in life. I am 100% committed to Rampart and our student-athletes. I believe we get 4 years to invest in them and if we do that well we will see that investment pay off for the next 40 years of their lives.”
