Colorado Springs leads state in Memorial Day DUI arrests
Colorado Springs police and El Paso County deputies were some of the most active in the state when it comes to DUI arrests over Memorial Day weekend.
It’s not good news: the Springs topped the list of DUI arrests from May 24 to May 28, and the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office made the third-most arrests of any state agency. That’s according to statistics released Monday by the Colorado Department of Transportation.
Thirty-two people were arrested by CSPD, and Denver police came in second with 30 arrests. The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office took the figurative bronze with 23 arrests.
Law enforcement stepped up their visibility over the Memorial Day weekend, but CSPD and the EPCSO accounted for about 17% of all the DUI arrests in the state that weekend.
