Marty’s Saturday Morning Forecast – Cooler Weekend – 5/18/19

Today: Partly cloudy, breezy and cooler with a chance for scattered showers and thunderstorms this afternoon. Thunderstorms today won’t be severe, but brief downpours, small hail, frequent lightning and gusty wind could accompany any stronger cells and higher mountain communities might even receive a little wet snow at times. High temperatures should reach the 50s to lower 60s around the Pikes Peak Region, 60s to lower 70s along the Arkansas River and mainly 50s over our local mountain areas and mountain valleys.

Tonight: Scattered showers and thunderstorms should wind down this evening then partly cloudy with pockets of low cloud cover possibly develop over the eastern plains late. The air should cool into the 30s and 40s for most areas by dawn.

Sunday: Partly cloudy and breezy to windy at times during the afternoon with high temperatures in the 60s to lower 70s for the plains; mainly 50s over the mountains. Although showers and thunderstorms aren’t as likely Sunday afternoon a few sprinkles or brief showers are still possible.

Extended: Monday morning could feature some low clouds and the afternoon is likely to bring some rain and thunderstorms to the area with some wet snow again possible at times over the mountains. Temperatures Monday afternoon will likely be cooler along and north of the Arkansas River with 40s and 50s likely, but 60s and 70s are still possible over southern areas. Colder air will surge southward Monday night possible causing rain to change to a little wet snow over the higher elevations along the I-25 corridor. Tuesday and Wednesday should be windy with just isolated showers possible and temperatures in the 60s and 70s for the plains, mainly 50s over the mountains. Thursday and Friday look mostly dry and probably a little warmer.
