Man on roof of downtown parking garage prompts police response

UPDATE: Around 7:50 pm, police were able to safely detain the man. He is currently undergoing a medical evaluation at the scene. It’s unclear what will happen to him after that.

All downtown streets have re-opened. CSPD tweeted that no injuries were reported, and our crews spotted an AMR ambulance leaving the scene without anyone inside.

Colorado Springs police are responding to a man who has been pacing on the roof of a garage near Tejon and Colorado Ave. Tuesday afternoon.

Little information has been released, but witnesses reported seeing the man walking back and forth. It doesn’t appear that he is armed.

Police have shut down Colorado Ave. in the area while officers work to resolve the situation.
