Walmart to give employees who don’t call in sick a bonus
Walmart is starting to give bonuses to employees who do not call in sick.
According to CNN, the company is revamping its attendance policy by giving employees an additional 25 percent. That’s on top of the cash bonuses their employees currently receive every quarter for having perfect attendance.
In a statement, Walmart VP Drew Holler said, “Our associates told us they wanted to be rewarded for their dedication, and we couldn’t agree more.”
Since a lot of employees use their sick days to care for their children or other family emergencies, Walmart says it will also start offering ‘protected PTO’ for its hourly workers. Employees can use up to six protected PTO days a year and still be eligible for the bonus, but only if they do not use any other sick days.
The new policy will kick into effect starting this weekend.
