UPDATE: Power restored in east Colorado Springs

Close to 5,000 people were briefly left without power Thursday on the east side of Colorado Springs.

According to a Colorado Springs Utilities map, the outages were fixed by about 5:20 p.m.

According to Colorado Springs Utilities, there were two outages near E. Platte Ave. and Powers Blvd. Thursday afternoon. About 4,700 customers were affected, and several stores in the area had to close due to the outage.

CSU says the cause of the outages isn’t known yet, but power is expected to be restored by 8 p.m.
