Marty’s Sunday Morning Forecast – Still Cool – 5/20/18

Today: We’ve had some low clouds and drizzle at times this morning over parts of our coverage area, and it appears that we’ll have more clouds than sun for many areas again at least through this morning. We don’t expect as much wind as yesterday, but we’ll still be breezy at times this afternoon. Scattered showers and thunderstorms will develop again this afternoon, and while it won’t be as cold over the mountains today a few snowflakes may mix in with the rain over higher elevations. Storms today aren’t likely to be severe, but some areas could briefly receive downpours, small hail, frequent lightning and gusty wind. Cool with high temperatures in the 50s and 60s along I-25, 60s to lower 70s along the Arkansas River, mainly 50s for the mountains.

Tonight: Any evening showers and thunderstorms will decrease in coverage, then decreasing clouds tonight. We expect low temperatures in the 30s and 40s for the mountains, 40s and 50s for the plains.

Extended: Monday will be breezy and much warmer with high temperatures in the 70s and 80s for the plains, 60s over the mountains. Showers and thunderstorms will remain possible on Monday, but should be quite spotty in nature. Warm next week with 70s and 80s to near 90 for the plains, mainly 60s to lower 70s over the mountains for most days. Isolated showers and thunderstorms will become less numerous, but we do expect them at times for some areas. Over the mountains severe weather isn’t likely, but a few strong storms could develop over the plains mainly east of I-25 at times. We also expect the wind to pick up at times through the week.
