District 60 won’t have to extend school year due to strike

Pueblo District 60 received a waiver from the Colorado Department of Education for the required number of instructional hours, the district said Tuesday, meaning classes won’t have to be extended into the summer as a result of the five-day teacher strike last week.

The district said all schools will “complete the 2017-2018 school year without additional days added to the current instructional calendar.”

That comes after concerns over extending the year due to the teacher strike, which started last Monday and ended with a deal between the district and the Pueblo Education Association this past weekend.

The last day of classes is June 6.
