Multiple agencies battle large grass fire in Pueblo

Multiple agencies have contained a large grass fire that broke out along N Pueblo Boulevard near Paws for Life Wednesday night.

We started hearing reports of this fire at around 9 p.m. It was burning in a wooded grove just north of the Arkansas River.

Firefighters tell us several homeless camps in the area could have caused the fire, but the exact cause is still under investigation.

The Pueblo Fire Department called in help from the Pueblo West Fire Department and the West Park Volunteer Fire Department.

Calm winds allowed firefighters to contain the fire rather quickly, but crews remained on the scene overnight to keep an eye on any hot spots.
