Cold front sweeps through Colorado, bringing strong gusts
Today: Southern Colorado has experienced the impacts of a cold front today. Winds are strong, temperatures are dropping and Mother Nature even managed to spark a few isolated showers of graupel and flurries in the Pikes Peak region. Showers have been moving quickly to the east. While it’s tough to say how the rest of the afternoon will pan out, it’s likely that these showers will dry out as the moisture is wrung from the sky. For many other areas, we have elevated fire danger with a Wind Alert Level One and a Red Flag Warning continuing until 5 p.m.
Tonight: Lows will be frigid! Temperatures drop to the single digits and teens under mostly clear skies. If you’re stepping outdoors late tonight or early Saturday, make sure to load on the layers!
Extended: Temperatures stay crisp Saturday and warm slightly on Sunday. We’ll have a mixture of sunshine and clouds. Next Tuesday ahead of our next storm, we warm to the 60s in the lower elevations. It will be a bit breezy too, and this could boost fire danger. Wednesday offers a very small chance for a few showers, but those chances aren’t looking too good right now. We’ll track the latest for you!
