Firefighters extinguish large blaze at Limon motel

Firefighters responded to a large structure fire at the First Inn Gold Motel in Limon after flames poured through the roof early Saturday.

The fire started before 5 a.m. and it took several hours for firefighters to douse all of the major flames. Embers still burned through sunrise, but the fire was contained around 9 a.m. Crews were still on scene at 11 a.m. to clear remaining hot spots.

Officials haven’t yet said what caused the fire.

Motel guests have been evacuated, and there are no reports of any injuries at this time.
