UPDATE: Power restored for nearly 4,000 customers on the NE side of Colorado Springs
6:15 A.M. UPDATE- Power is now back on for the nearly 4,000 customers hit by a power outage on the northeast side of Colorado Springs.
Colorado Springs Utilities says a cable failure is believed to be the cause of the outage.
10:41 P.M. UPDATE- Initial reports were that an accident caused the outage. Colorado Springs police just corrected their previous reports to the outage caused the accident. The vehicles failed to treat an intersection as a 4-way stop. The cause of the outage is still unknown.
10:30 P.M. UPDATE– The power outage has been reduced to 1,777. Colorado Springs police have confirmed a two-vehicle crash is what caused the power outage. The accident happened just before 10 p.m. at N. Murray Boulevard and Palmer Park. The vehicles somehow hit a power box in the area. No injuries have been reported.
