Hikers rescued from west side of Pikes Peak

El Paso and Teller County Search and Rescue crews worked throughout Thursday night to rescue three hikers from the west side of Pikes Peak.

The Teller County Sheriff’s Office says that Laura Emmerich, 26, Jasmine Bautista, 18, and Cheyenne Main, 19, were hiking near timberline at around 7:20 p.m. when one of them started to show signs of hypothermia.

One of the women called a parent who then called 9-1-1

A Flight for Life helicopter spotted the women at around 9 p.m. and rescuers on snowmobiles reached them at around 11 p.m.

The women were taken to the hospital where they were treated and released.
