Feds ask for input on possible Snowmass features

The White River National Forest is asking for public comment on proposed off-season features at the Snowmass ski area.

The Aspen Daily News reports that the Aspen Skiing Co. is proposing a mountain coaster, zip line, canopy tours, challenge course, climbing wall, and expanded hiking and mountain biking trails during the off season.

White River National Forest officials have released an environmental impact statement on the proposal.

Forest supervisor Scott Fitzwilliams says the recreation projects will all be located within the resort’s special-use permit area.

Aspen Skiing officials say more summertime recreational activities are needed at Snowmass.

A public open house is scheduled on April 7 to discuss the environmental impact statement.
