Wild weather swings impact the area again

There was some sunshine on Tuesday, but this is Southern Colorado in the spring and warm weather lovers know that the good times can’t last.

It’s another beautiful day around the region. The sun is shining and the temperatures are more like May than March.

That convinced some people to make their way to Bear Creek Dog Park in Colorado Springs. Lilly Curtis was there with her family to celebrate her favorite season.

“I like spring because you get to plant seeds and it’s the time where it starts to get nicer and nicer,” she said.

But it wasn’t long ago that it looked more like winter in our area – four days ago to be exact.

Just in time for Ashley McEwen’s visitors from out of town.

“I told them all ‘it’s been gorgeous’ and of course they showed up for the three days we got snow and it was 35 degrees,” she said.

The skittish nature of the March weather in our area didn’t come as much of a surprise to people visiting the park.

People in the know, know that today is the day to get out and about.

“Because it’s spring break and we knew this was the one day of sun there was going to be,” said Stephanie Curtis.

But even if it does snow, the weather here is much better than in some other places.

McEwen said, “You don’t get that cabin fever for six months, you still get the 65 degree days.”

And we can take a little cold, because as everyone here knows the dog days of summer are not far away.

We’ll be tracking the storm for you that will be bringing all those changes on the weather section of krdo.com.
