Police arrest Springs man accused of four bank robberies

A Colorado Springs man was arrested Tuesday afternoon under suspicion of robbing four banks since August.

Colorado Springs police arrested Wesley Ceplecha, 44, and say he’s behind two robberies at Academy Bank on Tejon Street, a robbery at People’s Bank on Tejon Street, and a robbery at TCF Bank in the 3100 block of East Platte Avenue.

Ceplecha faces one charge of aggravated robbery and three counts of robbery. During one of the holdups, he indicated to the victim that he had a weapon, according to police, but no threat of a weapon was made in the other three robberies.

Ceplecha was arrested on a warrant while walking along the 4400 block of McGrew Circle in Security. He is being held in the El Paso County Criminal Justice Center.
