Report: Denver shooting victim from Colorado Springs

The Denver Post reports that a Colorado Springs man was shot and killed in Denver over the weekend.

The paper reports that Jeffrey Turner Starkes, 27, was shot in the 3200 block of Pontiac Street at around 9:45 p.m. Sunday. The Post says Starkes was in town for a baby shower.

“It happened very fast,” Danny Studer told KDVR. “I don’t see how you can pull a trigger that fast. It was a muffled sound, like a motorcycle.”

Four people died in four separate shootings in Denver between 9 p.m. Sunday and 4 a.m. Monday. KMGH reports that three of the four shootings are believed to have been gang-related.
