Police look for person of interest in La Veta homicide case

The La Veta Marshal’s Office is investigating the homicide of a 22-year-old man.

Authorities tell KRDO NewsChannel 13 that the homicide took place at a trailer park in the 600 block of East Ryus Avenue just before 10:00 p.m. Sunday.

When police arrived, they found a 22-year-old man dead inside the home. The victim’s name is not being released, pending family notification. His manner of death will be released after an autopsy is complete, the La Veta Marshal’s Office said.

Police are searching for a Hispanic man in his early to mid 20s as a person of interest in the case. He’s described as 5’6″ with black hair and black eyes. Several agencies are assisting with the investigation including the Colorado Bureau of Investigation, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), Walsenburg Police Department and the Huerfano County Sheriff’s Office.
