Money Matters: Last weekend of free parking in Downtown Colorado Springs

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) - Starting June 1, people will need to pay for metered parking and garage parking downtown.

The City had originally suspended parking meter fees as an incentive to get people downtown to support local businesses.

You can pay for parking by using coins or a credit card. The City of Colorado Springs has also partnered with ParkMobile App for contactless parking payments.

The free app will allow people to pay for parking through their phone so they don't have to touch meters.

The app will go live on June 1 and will be available to take payments at approximately 2,400 metered parking spaces throughout the City of Colorado Springs.

Later this year, the ParkMobile app will introduce a new feature that will show where available parking spots are in the city based on real-time sensor data.

Parking rates and time limits will remain the same.
