Fountain Fire Department lifts Stage One Fire Restrictions Tuesday

FOUNTAIN, Colo. (KRDO) -- The Fountain Fire Department announced Tuesday that Stage One Fire Restrictions has been lifted for the city.

As of Tuesday, the fire department says the amount of moisture in the last week has prompted this lift. However, weather and fire danger conditions will continue to be monitored throughout the next few weeks. Restrictions may be enacted as needed.

Although fire restrictions are have been lifted, the fire department wants to remind the community that the sale or use of fireworks is permitted. Any fireworks that leave the ground remain illegal.

Illegal within the City of Fountain:

  • Open burning without a permit including permissible fireworks: sparklers, fountains, poppers, and anything that is purchased within the retail sites within the State of Colorado.
  • Recreational fireworks: possession, use, and/or the sale of illegal fireworks is illegal.

Allowed within the City of Fountain:

  • Recreational fires: outdoor fire where the fuel being burned is not contained in an incinerator, this includes a total fuel area of three feet or less in diameter and two feet or less in height like a BBQ grill or outdoor fireplace. They shall not be conducted within 25 feet of a structure or combustible material.
  • Fireplaces and fire appliances: fire in a portable or fixed outdoor fireplace or fire appliance shall be fueled by wood, pellets, charcoal and/or liquid propane gas, natural gas or liquid gas. These fires must have a minimum distance of 15 feet between a neighboring structure and combustible material.
  • Permissible fireworks: Anything that is purchased within the retail sites like sparklers, fountains, and poppers within the State of Colorado.

Fountain Fire Department wants to remind the community to continue to use caution when using an open fire and or "flame producing devices."
