Coroner identifies motorcyclist killed in traffic crash near Espanola St. and N. Nevada Ave.

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) -- The motorcyclist who was killed after they hit a pickup truck has been identified by the El Paso County Coroner's Office.

On June 18, Colorado Springs Police Department were dispatched to the area of Espanola St. and N. Nevada Ave. for traffic crash involving a pickup truck and motorcycle, just after 10:45 p.m.

During the investigation, police learned a motorcycle was traveling South on Nevada Ave. without lights on.

As the motorcycle approached the intersection of Nevada Ave. and Espanola St., the motorcycle hit the left fender of a pickup truck that was traveling East on Espanola St.

At the scene, the Colorado Springs Fire Department and American Medical Response members tried to provide aid to the motorcyclist.

However, police say the motorcyclist died from his injuries at the scene.

On June 20, the El Paso County Coroner's Office identified the motorcyclist to be 24-year-old Jacob Kuhel-Heinzel.

This accident is the 22nd fatal traffic crash in Colorado Springs this year, according to police.
